Sexual Violence

Since 1981, the 19th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office has had victim advocates on staff to assist victims of violent crimes such as sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse, and homicide cases. With the passage of Marsy’s Law in Florida in 2018, these services have been expanded to assist all Felony and Misdemeanor victims. Advocates help victims navigate the criminal justice system, keep victims informed about the status of their cases, and help uphold the victims’ right to be informed, present, and heard at all stages of the criminal justice process. Other services include crisis intervention, assistance with Crimes Compensation, arranging transportation and referrals to appropriate community resources for services needed. Once your case has been opened at the State Attorney’s Office, you will receive a Victims’ Rights Letter from your assigned victim advocate containing the name and contact information for your advocate. The advocate will follow up with you shortly thereafter. If an arrest has not been made, please call the law enforcement agency handling the investigation with any concerns.
